Finishing the project

As we finish our final project we start frantically trying to finish because it needs to be done this week. We filmed last week the rest of what we needed and started editing. James and Reese came over to help edit most of it. James had to leave early and he was the one putting the clips in order. Once he left me and Reese looked over it and decided to re do his work as he only put in half the clips and they weren’t in the right order. So we re did the whole thing and put in the music, split and trimmed the clips, and then put it in the right order. Later that night I started to do the titles because I knew my group wouldn’t do anything till later. Keep in mind during this whole project Lucy has done absolutely nothing to help. During filming she couldn’t come because of quarantine which is understandable but when we asked her to help us edit she said she couldn’t even thought she didn’t need to be in person with us. So it has mostly been Reese and I as James has been helping but it hasn’t been good work so Reese and I would have to go through and fix it. So back to that night of editing, as I was putting in the titles I decided to finish it. I put in all the necessary titles and an extra to give us extra time. However once I finished we still only had 1:47 about. So I need to text my group and we need to Fairview our what to do as we have to do the CCR still which will take a while.   Overall this project has been very stressful and I don’t think it was a good idea to work with Lucy and James as me and Reese have done all the work in which I’m very disappointed about them not doing anything. In the beginning when they asked to be in our group and specifically said that they need to help especially Lucy as I have heard from her prior groups that she hasn’t done anything. In the beginning she was very good about helping us with group blogs and then she kind of turned at which point we were heavily deciding towards kicking her out of the group but thought it wouldn’t be fair.

Re-edit blog

Yesterday finally my group and I filmed out reshoot. As everyone is aware we have a unique situation to deal with as the coronavirus has shut down all schools and people are self quarantining.  Yesterday we went to film at Hugh birch state with James, Reese, and me but lucy wasn't able to come because her mom doesn't want her out due to the virus. So we filmed everything we could and are now editing. Reese emailed me all the footage we had and I started editing today as I have a lot of time due to no school. I am editing on my personal computer using iMovie as my software. So far I am only up to putting together the footage and haven't gotten to the titles yet. However, my group has to discuss what we are doing for the titles. even though we decided on something at the beginning of the project we have been on and off about the idea. The most recent idea we had was going in and out with black screens, so the title would be a black screen with the words and the cut straight back to the footage. we haven't fully decided though. our group is very behind because we have not been good with communication but we are working up to where we need to be. Lucy has also been trouble, not only did she not come to filming but now she can't help with editing. We might meet up on Thursday so we can all collaborate and edit but I don't know if we will still be able to. In my opinion, I think editing will at least take 3 days on and off but we need to finish before spring break so we have time to do the CCR.

Reshoot blog

As I said in previous blogs, getting my group together has been very difficult because of personal issues. On Tuesday in our AICE media class, we discussed days for reshooting. Since we have a very condensed week next week we decided to film next week instead of this week as we would have more time to film. We agreed to film on Tuesday of next week as we have a full day off from school and have the ability to stay at the park all day to film. We changed our filming location to Hugh birch state park because it is closer to our school. Although now that I'm thinking about it we won't be in school on Tuesday so we might just still film at wolf lake park. My group and I have to figure it out before next week. We plan on finishing the filming portion Tuesday since we dedicated a whole day to just filming. This being said we plan on being able to edit everything on Thursday as we have an early release. However, we might not be going as we have an assembly all day and thought this would be a better use of our time that day. However, if we do not finish filming on Tuesday we will finish Thursday and decide a day to edit. We wanted to get together to edit so we all collaborate to make the decisions, although if worse comes to worst it will be ok if we can just facetime to edit. Also since we have spring break the next week most of our travels got canceled due to the coronavirus, so we could edit sometime during the week of spring break. We started part of our re shooting last week but could only do the bedroom scene which is only a little part of the film. James had to unexpectedly leave for Dallas and we needed him to be the attacker as he is the only guy in our group.  As a result, we only filmed the bedroom scene but finished everything we needed for that scene which was helpful as we didn't need to dedicate yet another day to film. Overall, we should be done filming by the end of next week.

Chaotic week blog

This week has been a very stressful week for me and my group. Many things have happened that contributes to problems with our filming and editing. First off we were supposed to film on Thursday however, Lucy didn’t come to school and didn’t want to drive to the school so we ended up not filming. We were also supposed to film on Friday but no one was answering after school and we didn’t get together in time resulting in another day of not filming when we planned to. Lastly, we were going to film over the weekend but I became so stressed and fed up with my group that I just wanted to get it done with. Lucy offered to film most of it with a friend so we have something to show for peer editing but James and Lucy decided without consulting me that they would not film and use our 2 scenes that we got from before. However, I took the liberty of filming on my own time with my own friends because I knew Lucy wouldn’t actually do anything. When I found out today that she really didn’t do anything I became furious. They thought they would just turn in nothing and it would be fine but thank goodness I filmed. I sent the footage to James and Reese to edit for tomorrow’s peer grading. I had a long conversation with James and Lucy about what happened making sure they wouldn’t do this again. I filmed with my two friends Sofia and Brianna at Seminole park. Instead of me acting in it I filmed because I couldn’t stop laughing the last time I was the actor. I also thought it would be easier for me to film because I knew all the angles and the ideas of the whole story. I directed them on what to do and what to say. We only got to the end of the woods scene because they had prior plans and I felt bad for taking them out of it to film something that had no use to them. As a result we only got to the end of the woods scene but it was more than what we filmed with my group and I was satisfied on the footage, as the acting was pretty good.

Peer review blog

Today in my AICE media blog we had a peer review edit blog where we watched and all another group’s video and have the criticism on it which would help them improve. My group graded my class mates Luca, Ryan, Camilo on their drama genre movie. I interpreted their movie as a love story between a girl and a guy when the boy goes to get something for the girl and gets kidnapped. One thing I really liked about their movie was that the storyline was very clear although the funeral kind of confused us at first but we figured it out once we saw the end. By making their storyline clear it allowed us to understand everything that was going on and prevented any confusion. However there were some things that could use improvements like when Luca dies or gets kidnapped it could have more darker/ somber lighting. This would make the effect of the sadness and scariness more intense and would get the message across what is happening. They also could have improved on transitions to make them clearer, specifically when they tried to do an action match through Ryan’s eye. It wasn’t very clean and kind of shaky, it didn’t really make sense to put it in but if they make the next scene the same action it had the potential to look very good. Another thing I noticed is that the sound was a little bit fuzzy, I wasn’t sure if it was due to the computer or the actual song they used. However, they still need to fix it because you can’t hear it clearly. Otherwise I think their movie was really well put together and filmed.
